End of Week One - Christmas Edition

So, I ran like once. On Sunday. Because I am lazy and like sleeping until one pm. Ugh.

Weigh in: 181.1
Dammit. The muscle is still there, but I has been teh lazy and eating badly.

Promises:
  • Run two times a week and post here about it.
  • Bike at least once a week
  • If I ever get those skates, roller blade once a week.
  • Pay the fuck attention to upper body stuff.
  • Eat way more vegetables and more fruit than I do currently. Plan menus. Spend one day a week cooking meals for the week (yes, I am that lazy).
This starts tomorrow.

Bah.

Weigh ins: last week, same as week before. Will weigh myself in the morning.

Fell right off that damn wagon. So, I'm starting over.

Goal: By my birthday, I'll be ten pounds lighter.

End of (Thanksgiving) Week

Weigh in: 177.5
Considering that it's the beginning of the holidays, I'm going to count this one as a draw. Can't WAIT until break, because it'll be half running, baking, and writing (and half whatever housecleaning I can't wriggle out of).

End of Week Thirteen

Weight in: after my run, 177.8
I am not amused. I am a fat kid and I need to stop being one, for pete's sake. I also have not gone back to keeping track of my calories because I'm a moron.

Did run though, and it was better than my last one.

Monday Run

Did it! Lost some stamina, I think. Need to work on that. Also I need a better arrangement for my mp3 and phone. I kept dropping them, to my dismay.

Also did some sit ups and push ups.

Sunday, November 14, 2010

End of Week Twelve

Weigh in: 175.9
Bleh. The scale's upper lefthand corner was hanging off the edge, so that might have "made" me weigh less than I actually do.

No running this week, because I am a lazy SOB. Running today, though! It's actually on my list of things to do today (at four pm, dammit!). I still need to investigate other routines, since running only does so much. I'll be buying roller blades, I think, with Christmas money.

End of Week Eleven

Because I was at UoP until late evening yesterday....

175 lbs square! Yay melatonin! And not being a fat kid!

So, as I just indicated, I added melatonin to my life and it seems to be working like a charm. This is good. I will try to run at least once this week, but UoP left me some nasty blisters.

End of Week Ten

Guess who fails at life? I do! 178.8 lbs!

I thought it was water weight and I'm fairly sure it isn't anymore. I just ate like a freakin' fat kid and stopped running. Go me. Week eleven isn't going to help me, either. Busy all week long, from start to finish. Papers, homework, laundry, packing, and then the trip to UOP.

I'm going to do my best, though, this week. I want to get a run in today and maybe Wednesday morning, if I can.

To do:
  • run at five today
  • get my silly self back on schedule and using myplate regularly
  • run Wednesday
  • focus on other aerobic stuff
  • and work on upper body
Edit:
Ran. Not very far, as my bra was too tight. And my lungs were acting up in general.

End of Week Nine

Ok, weightloss has totally stopped and I think I gained weight. I haven't stepped on the scale at a time where I hadn't already eaten before hand.

That's probably my problem. Bletch.

I have determined that the running, being on packed dirt, is probably bad for my shins. So, I am going to ride up to East and run on the springy track a couple times a week. I want to tomorrow but that probably won't happen. Or Tuesday. But Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday I will get out there. I also need to do some research on lower impact cardio. And I NEED to do basic strength training.

Week Nine - Wednesday Run

YAY I RAN!

A mile, I think? Out of two. Not bad. Lost some stamina (also, yay for wheezing - stupid rain making the mold spore...), but still! Shin splints kicked in at the very, very end, so hurray!

Sunday, October 17, 2010

End of Week Eight

I don't even want to look at the scale right now. I don't think I gained any weight, but I'm damn sure I didn't loose any either (when I looked the other day, it was the same weight as the last entry's). This shin splints BS is really screwing me over. Imma run anyhow tomorrow. I think I'll be ok.

I got one - read it - one bike ride in this week. Also, fat kiddery. It needs to stop.

End of Week Seven

Weigh in: 173.7

.2 of a pound this week. Annoyed Scrib is annoyed. I suspect it has something to do with me not doing anything this week. Running's usually what I do and that's really about it, so this whole things with my knees and shins hating me isn't cool.
Ugh. Still looking for a new doctor.

Week Seven - Weight Update

Got on the scale this morning, and 173.9. YAY! Eight pounds in seven weeks. I'm still looking to shed a pound this week, too. So nine in seven weeks, maybe? That would be awesome.

No bikeride today. Looks like it might rain, so I'll do yoga instead. I need to work on flexibility in my legs anyway.

Tuesday, October 5, 2010

Week Seven - Tuesday Run

I have no idea why I didn't run yesterday.

Anyway. Ran about 1.5 miles, I think. Then the shin splints and pumpkin pie kicked in and were like "OH NO YOU DON'T" when I attempted to continue. Was going to add another mile today, too. Decent run, other than that.

Tomorrow I think I'll ride up to Old Town and do some homework at the liiibrary after getting a drink somewhere. Also, I'll need to schedule a couple doctor appointments - GP, optometrist, etc.

Week Six Weigh In and Run

Ooooh boy. I wouldn't be surprised if I gained a pound last night after the terrible misbehavior at Tracy's party... fries + "brownie obsession". Fuuuuu-! Probably close to 2,000 calories, when my average is closer to 1,000 a day. Which I met at dinner.

Anyway.
175.9 was the weight yesterday morning.

Plans for week seven: run Monday and Tuesday. Long bike ride Wednesday. Weights on Thursday night. Running Friday and Saturday. I should be adding another mile or so by Friday. I love that I put on lean muscle easy as pie. :)

Edit:  ran. Humidity made it miserable and hard to breathe, so compared to Friday, the distance was almost non-existent.

Week Six - Friday Run Check In

Ran most of the two miles. My guess is close to 1 3/4 miles. YAY! Just have to work on speed and stamina now, before I add more miles.

I think I'm hitting a plateau in what this particular running routine can do for me. Only seem to have dropped half a pound this week, which annoys me more than a little. I'm going use yoga in combination with the running, I think. That helps with over-all weight loss when I took the class.

Week Six - Thursday Run/General Check In

I choose to eat before I ran, and that was a pretty bad idea....it came down to keep running and puke or walk. So I walked. Ugh. But! I shall be running in the morning. I'm determined to leave by six am!

Also, woo, I feel pretty icky lately. I jolted my knee on Monday and it's been twinging ever since. And unless I'm starving, eating makes my stomach hurt. It's right about where my sternum ends and it's unpleasant. It's not even me being a fat kid that triggers it; it's light grazing if I'm not already hungry. It displeases me.

Monday, September 27, 2010

Week Six - Monday Run

A good one! Though I jolted my left femur, which was a pain in the ass. Did more actual running, which is great!

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Week Five

176.4 as of this morning. This makes me sad. But also not surprised, since I didn't do anything Wednesday and my diet was rather bad. Ugh. Must work on this.

Still no insurance, for god knows what reason.

I'll be checking in after runs, I think. Yesterday was a pretty crappy run. Just not feeling it.

Sunday, September 19, 2010

Week Four

Weigh in: 176.8

Not bad. So, that's slightly over five pounds in four weeks. So maybe twenty isn't too far out of reach. Running is getting easier and faster. Half a hour for the run/walk of two miles the other day. I'm going to work on it being quicker than that before I add more mileage, even though it feels bizarrely short for it to only take half an hour instead of an hour. Thursdays I guess will be my cheat day.

Also, LESS FAT. Yeesh.

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

Update on Week Three

So I weighed my fat ass and it was 180.1. Then I ran, and it was 178.8. Which was fucking great and probably all water weight. Bleh. Running again tomorrow. And I really need to pack better lunch-y things so I don't fat kid it up at school. Ugh.

Edit: Wednesday's "holy crap." Weighed myself (after drinking a crap ton of milk and stuff) and I weigh 177.7! Hell yeah!

Sunday, September 12, 2010

Week Three

So, seriously, got no running done. I think I rode about four miles though, on my bike. I think I'll take that up more often. It's nice, and the weather's getting nicer, too.

I forgot to weigh myself, though, this morning, and I'm going to try what my mom said when it comes to weighing myself. Do it at the same time every time, because apparently one's weight yo-yos over the course of the day. Anyway, I'm hoping I didn't get fatter after this last two days' eating adventures. Cookies and booze and starbucks and shit yesterday, and then junk food for breakfast this morning. Bad Kit! Bad! No more of that!

Anyway, I'm going to weigh my fat ass in the morning before I run errands.

Update - Week Two

180.8 solid. Damn. Still, that's a pound, I suppose. I'll have to work on this dieting thing some more, though. I wanted a pound a week.

On that note, I think twenty pound before Christmas might be a little optimistic. I'm going to say ten before Christmas.

Sunday, September 5, 2010

End of Week Two

Weigh in: either 179.0 or 180.8. Yesterday it was 179, today it was the latter. I don't get it. Loss of water weight? I think I weighed myself after a run, so maybe?

I'll look again tomorrow. -sigh-

The Sheep fires have made running difficult, so I rode my bike today to less effect, I think. Blegh. I may try to run again tomorrow afternoon anyway. Tonight is a night for dancing, so I shall be up late.

I'm apparently a mesomorph? Which is cool, but I'm not going to try the short intensity training for mah running. I'll follow suggestions for the weights, though. Light and lots of repetition. And I think I may go see a doctor for legit diet advice, because the internet is confusing me.

Sunday, August 29, 2010

End of Week One

Weigh in: lost half a pound.
Not bad when I screwed up my diet and then, in the middle of it all, switched the intentions, and barely got out (though walking a crap ton at school helped, I expect!).

Friday, August 27, 2010

Week One - Friday

Ooooh boy, did I ever blow this new fangled diet. I just switched the intentions of my MyPlate thing, so that helped, but I went over my weekly allotment of sugar already. I figured that out this morning, and have decided to go whole hog and ignore the sugar count for the nest two days. I'll still watch my fat intake, of course.

I did, however, get out more. Monday was supposed to be a run, but I took Regulus with me and too short a leash, so it turned into a one mile training session for him rather than a two mile walk/run for me, lol. I made the effort to do some core stuff, though. I also walked five miles this morning. Which burned over a thousand calories, to my surprise.

I'll do a weigh in on Sunday.

Analysis

Diet: Vegetarian
  • Too much fat, too much sugar, too many carbs. Not enough fiber, not enough protein.
  • For all that, my calorie count is low. Very low. Yesterday was in the negatives.

Exercise:
  • Anywhere from one to three hours of yardwork most mornings. Mostly medium to heavy, as it includes laying cement, weeding (and Bermuda grass is EVIL), moving heavy wheel barrows, etc.
  • A couple times a month I get out and run a mile or so, walking a mile, too.
Diet goals:
  • More protein
  • Way less sugar
  • fewer carbs
Exercise goals:
  • run four times a week in the morning. If I go out the night before, run that afternoon.
  • three times a week, work other muscles (arms and core, primarily). Do yoga for preference.
General health goals:
  • Get up at six am
  • Sit on my rump less
I'm using these two sites to keep track of everything:
http://www.livestrong.com/myplate/ (more for calorie counts than anything)
http://dailyburn.com (exercise stuff)

I will attempt to check in twice a week and record my progress, with weekly weigh-ins. Thursdays will be hard, because of school, but other than that I will do it!
Along those lines, I'm going to post recipes and commentary, mostly for later use.

Introductions are in order, yes?

I doubt anyone will ever find this, but hey, I'm not doing this for anyone else. :) If you do see this, hello!

Anyway.

The purpose of The Fat Kid Files is for me to document and encourage myself to get un-fat. I don't think I look it, but I'm about 182 pounds. :( Not cool. So, I've decided that I'm going to change that.

Long term goal: be twenty pounds lighter by Christmas.

Monthly goal: drop five pounds

I'll be back tomorrow with some rather brutal examinations of my diet/exercise habits along with what the hell I'm going to do about it!
